Select "Sign In"
On the HBO Max home screen select "Sign In". A 6-digit activation code appears on the television, usually beside a QR code you can scan instead.
3
Visit hbomax.com/signin
On your phone, tablet or computer go to hbomax.com/signin, which forwards to auth.hbomax.com/link. The older hbomax.com/tvsignin and max.com/tvsignin addresses now return a 404 (checked 3 September 2026). Sign in with your HBO Max account, or choose your TV provider, if prompted.
Type the 6-digit code shown on your television into the page exactly as displayed. Codes are short-lived, so generate a fresh one if the screen has been open a while.

Start streaming
The television refreshes on its own within a few seconds and drops you into the app, already signed in.

Three things that trip people up
HBO Max. It was renamed Max in 2023 and renamed back to HBO Max in 2025, which is why older TV apps and guides still say Max. Same service, same subscription, same sign-in process.
No. Checked on 3 September 2026, hbomax.com/tvsignin returns HTTP 404, and max.com/tvsignin redirects into the same dead page. Use hbomax.com/signin, which forwards to auth.hbomax.com/link.
HBO Max lists 2 devices at once for Basic with Ads and for Standard, and 4 for Premium - only 2 of those for sports. Extra member accounts get one stream that does not count against the account holder.
