Live Counters

Live counters, each tracking a number that changes while you watch. Three follow social accounts: the YouTube subscriber counter and the YouTube view counter poll public YouTube data for any channel or video you name, and the TikTok counter does the same for TikTok follower counts. The other two do not work the same way as each other: the world population counter reads no live feed at all, it extrapolates published UN projections in your browser, while the cryptocurrency ticker does read one, quoting prices from a public market API. A French national debt counter, extrapolated like the population one, is published on the French version of the site. The social counters need a network connection, because the numbers come from an external API; they refresh on a short interval rather than only on page load, so a channel approaching a round number can be watched in real time. Counter pages take the account name in the URL, so one link opens the counter already pointed at the channel you care about, and each can be embedded in another site as an iframe.
