FAQ Schema Generator

An FAQ schema generator turns question-and-answer pairs into schema.org FAQPage markup: each pair becomes a Question whose acceptedAnswer holds the answer text, inside one JSON-LD script tag. Type “Do you offer international shipping?” and “Yes. We ship to over 50 countries.” and the Generated Code panel returns that block ready to paste. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results on 7 May 2026, but the markup itself is still valid schema.org.

What should you check before you publish?

  • ✓ Mark up only questions and answers a visitor can read on the page itself.
  • ✓ Emit FAQPage once per URL: an SEO plugin that already outputs it, plus this block, gives you duplicate markup.
  • ✓ Write answers as plain sentences. HTML you paste is kept as literal characters inside the JSON string.
  • ⚠ Do not reuse one block across several URLs; each page needs the questions it actually shows.
  • ⚠ Google stopped showing FAQ rich results on 7 May 2026. The block is still valid schema.org and other parsers read it.

About FAQ Schema Generator

The FAQ Schema Generator builds schema.org FAQPage markup from the pairs you type into the Q and A fields. Each complete pair becomes a Question object with an acceptedAnswer of type Answer, and the whole set is wrapped in a single application/ld+json script tag with two-space indentation. Pairs missing either half are skipped without a message, leading and trailing spaces are trimmed, and quotation marks, backslashes and line breaks inside your text are escaped for you, so the block still parses as JSON when an answer contains a quoted phrase.

Three panels sit under the editor. Validation counts the complete pairs and keeps a warning on screen until there are at least three. Google Preview mocks up a search result and lays out your first three questions as collapsed rows, so you can see how long each one reads. Generated Code holds the finished block, and Copy puts it on the clipboard.

Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in Search on 7 May 2026 and dropped the FAQ search appearance, the rich result report and Rich Results Test support the following month. Google's guidance is that existing FAQ structured data can stay in place: it causes no problems, it simply produces nothing visible in Google Search. FAQPage is still a current schema.org type — version 30.0 describes it as a WebPage presenting one or more frequently asked questions — and other parsers still read it, which is why this generator writes the standard shape rather than a Google-specific variant.

The tool writes markup only. It does not fetch your existing page, merge with structured data you already publish, add url, @id, inLanguage or author properties, or test a live URL. Anything you paste into an answer, HTML tags included, is carried through as plain text inside the JSON string. Everything runs in your browser, so the questions and answers you type are never sent to a server.

Use Cases

An ecommerce manager marking up a shipping and returns page types the five questions support answers most often, waits for Validation to report five valid pairs, and pastes the block into the template so the answers exist as data as well as prose.
A WordPress editor with no SEO plugin builds the FAQPage block here and drops it into a Custom HTML block at the foot of the post, keeping the markup word for word identical to the accordion the reader sees above it.
A developer writing a component that renders FAQs from a CMS uses the Generated Code panel as the reference shape — mainEntity, Question, name, acceptedAnswer, text — before hard-coding the serializer, instead of guessing the nesting from memory.
A technical writer localising a help centre generates one FAQPage block per language, pasting the translated questions, so every localized URL carries markup in its own language rather than a copy of the English one.
An SEO auditing a client site retypes the visible FAQ here and compares the result with what the site currently outputs, to see which questions the plugin dropped, truncated or answered with text that is not on the page.

How to generate FAQ schema with this tool

1

Type your first question into the Q1 field and its full answer into the A1 box below it — the page opens with three empty pairs ready.

2

Press + Add Question for each further pair, or Load Sample to fill the editor with five worked examples; Clear All empties the list back to one blank pair.

3

Watch the Validation panel: it counts the cards where both halves are filled and keeps warning you until at least three pairs are complete.

4

Check Google Preview, which lays your first three questions under a mock search result so you can see how long each one reads.

5

Press Copy on the Generated Code panel to put the application/ld+json script tag on your clipboard.

6

Paste the block into the HTML of the page that already shows those questions, reload it, and search the source for FAQPage to confirm exactly one block is present.

Pro Tips

  • Load Sample fills the editor with five worked ecommerce pairs so you can see the finished JSON shape first. Clear All then empties the list down to a single blank pair, not back to the three the page starts with.
  • The Validation counter only rises when both halves of a card contain text. A filled question with an empty answer is silently left out of the generated code, so check the count matches the number of cards you filled.
  • Google Preview renders only the first three complete pairs. Put the three questions you most want to read as a snippet at the top of the list, and use the preview to spot answers that run too long to scan.
  • The red ✕ on a card only appears while more than one pair exists. With a single card left there is nothing to delete with, so use Clear All to empty it and start again.
  • Type answers as plain sentences. Quotes, backslashes and line breaks are escaped for you, but an <a href> or <strong> you paste is stored as literal characters inside the JSON string, not as formatting.

Troubleshooting

Problem:

Generated Code still says “// Add at least one question and answer” although I have typed something.

Solution:

A pair only counts when the question and the answer both contain non-space characters. Fill the A box under the Q you filled, or remove the half-empty card with its ✕ button. The code panel updates the moment one complete pair exists.

Problem:

The Copy button does nothing and its label never changes to Copied.

Solution:

Copying uses the browser clipboard API, which browsers expose only on a secure page and, in some of them, only inside a real click. Reload the page over https and click Copy directly, or select the code inside the Generated Code panel and copy it with Ctrl+C or Cmd+C.

Problem:

My HTML tags appear as literal characters in the generated answer text.

Solution:

Every answer is written as a JSON string, so <strong> or <a href> you paste stays as characters in the value rather than becoming formatting. Type answers as plain sentences and let the visible HTML on your page carry the links and emphasis.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ schema is schema.org FAQPage markup: a JSON-LD block that lists a page's questions, each as a Question object whose acceptedAnswer carries the answer text. Schema.org version 30.0 describes a FAQPage as a WebPage presenting one or more frequently asked questions. It changes nothing the reader sees; it labels the same content in a form software can parse.

Type a question into the Q1 field and its answer into the A1 box, press + Add Question for each further pair, and read the finished block from the Generated Code panel. Copy puts it on your clipboard. Paste it into the HTML of the page that already displays those questions — a JSON-LD script tag can sit in the head or anywhere in the body.

Not for Google rich results. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in Search on 7 May 2026, dropped the FAQ search appearance, the rich result report and Rich Results Test support in June 2026, and ended Search Console API support in August 2026. Google's guidance is that the markup can stay in place: it causes no problems, it simply produces nothing visible in Google Search. FAQPage is still a valid schema.org type that other parsers read.

It is worth the few minutes if you already maintain an FAQ and want those questions available as data — for a knowledge base export, a site search index, or any consumer that reads schema.org. It is not worth adding purely for Google, which has shown no FAQ rich result since 7 May 2026. Treat the markup as a description of your content, not a lever: the answers themselves do the work.

Yes. For one pair this tool returns: {"@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "FAQPage", "mainEntity": [{"@type": "Question", "name": "Do you offer international shipping?", "acceptedAnswer": {"@type": "Answer", "text": "Yes. We ship to over 50 countries and orders usually arrive in 10-15 business days."}}]}, wrapped in a script tag. Press Load Sample to see the same structure with five pairs.

View the page source and search for FAQPage or application/ld+json — the block is plain text in the HTML. For a parsed report, paste the page into the Schema Markup Validation Tool at validator.schema.org, which checks schema.org markup rather than Google rich results. Google's Rich Results Test dropped FAQ support in June 2026, so a missing FAQ section there no longer means your markup is broken.

Generate the block here, then paste it into a Custom HTML block at the end of the post, or print it into wp_head from your theme or a snippet plugin. Make sure only one source emits FAQPage for that URL: an SEO plugin that already outputs it plus a pasted block gives you duplicate markup. Reload the post and search the source for FAQPage to confirm there is exactly one.

A genuine FAQ section helps because it answers questions in the phrasing people actually search with, and those passages are what search engines and AI assistants quote. The markup is a separate matter: since 7 May 2026 it earns no Google rich result. Write the answers for the reader first, then mark them up so the same text is also available as structured data.

Google's structured data gallery still documents rich results for Article, Breadcrumb, Event, Product, Recipe, Review snippet, Video, Organization, Local business, Job posting, Q&A and around a dozen more. FAQ and HowTo are no longer on that list. Choose the type that matches what the page really is rather than layering FAQPage onto a page that is not an FAQ.

Marking up questions a visitor cannot find in the page body; reusing one FAQPage block across many URLs; leaving a card half filled, which this tool drops from the output without warning; pasting HTML into an answer, where it is stored as literal characters; and emitting FAQPage twice on the same URL from both a plugin and a pasted block.
